Participation in Emergency Planning
The extent to which academic institutions are integrated within state and local response plans is dependent upon the relationships and previously-shared experiences between university faculty and state and local health department staff. In a large-scale bioterrorism event, local investigation and response activities will be directed by state health departments (in partnership with state emergency management, federal law enforcement agencies, and the CDC). Local health departments play a fundamental role in all state health department plans.
In an effort to ensure that the work done here at the AHC is adequately coordinated with emergency preparedness efforts in the community, AHC Emergency Preparedness Program staff participate on the following planning bodies and advisory groups:
-
Hennepin County Public Health Emergency Advisory Committee
-
Minnesota Department of Health Terrorism and Health Task Force
-
Minnesota Department of Health Strategic National Stockpile Workgroup
-
Metropolitan Hospital Compact
-
MRC Metro Coordination Group
-
Metro Area Public Information Officers
