Mission:
The Mission of the U of M Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is to prepare for and respond to large scale campus, local, state, or national emergencies in a timely, efficient and effective manner and in so doing, provide unique educational and experiential opportunities for Academic Health Center students, staff and faculty.

Goals:
The goals of the U of M MRC are to:

  • Prepare University volunteers for their roles in advance, enabling a prompt and effective emergency response
  • Provide the essential conduit for University health professionals and others (students, staff, and faculty) to efficiently volunteer their expertise during public health emergencies

Membership:
Membership to the University’s MRC is open to Academic Health Center (AHC) staff, faculty and students and Boynton Health Service Staff as well as College of Biological Science students referred by the AHC Health Careers Center. The AHC includes the School of Public Health, School of Dentistry, College of Pharmacy, College of Veterinary Medicine, School of Nursing, and Medical School.

The MRC will be deployed as authorized by the University of Minnesota Health Emergency Response Team and following a specific request for assistance from the Minnesota Department of Health, local public health agencies, and/or other state or federal agencies.

The University of Minnesota MRC is recognized by the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Surgeon General.
